Editorial Policy

How We Produce This Content

Virdix publishes plain-language guides to family court forms and procedure. Our California content is built directly on the official Judicial Council of California forms, the same forms every California Superior Court publishes and accepts statewide. When we describe what a form asks for or how a process works, we start from the form itself and the instructions the Judicial Council publishes with it.

We source facts only from primary, official sources: the California Courts Self-Help Center (selfhelp.courts.ca.gov), the official text of California law (leginfo.legislature.ca.gov), and the Judicial Council forms and instructions themselves. We do not base factual claims on other websites, forums, or general web content.

Attorney Review

Our California family law content is reviewed by licensed attorneys before publication, and again whenever the underlying forms, rules, or fees change. Review checks that a guide accurately describes the official form and procedure, and that it stays factual and procedural rather than offering legal advice about any individual's situation.

We describe our reviewers by their credential, licensed family law attorneys, rather than by name, because review is an ongoing editorial process involving more than one person over time, not a single named author.

Florida Content

Our Florida content is built on the official Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure forms, sourced from Florida's courts and primary .gov materials the same way our California content is. Florida coverage is newer than our California coverage and does not currently carry the licensed-attorney review process described above.

Keeping Content Current

Court forms, filing fees, and procedures change over time. When a form we cover is revised or replaced, or a rule or fee changes, we update the affected guide and note the date it was last updated. If you spot something on the site that looks out of date, please tell us.
